About Our School

Thank you for visiting our new website - we hope you find the information you are looking for. Our school is very much the focal point of the village and caters for children aged from 3 to 11 years.

Children attend from many of the surrounding towns and villages. We are a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School and have close links with the church of St Nicholas in Great Hormead. The children go regularly to church and take part in services. Services are also held in the school.

There has been a school in Hormead since before 1815. Our current building's history started in 1845 when the Reverend Charles Colson, Rector of Great Hormead was the driving force in helping to set up the building we use as the hall today. The school received it's charter in 1845 and opened its doors in 1846. Rev Colson also taught here. Evacuees were brought here from London during the war!
